Megaways slots with an inferno theme
6 inferno slots · 3 related slots · feature tag Megaways · newest firstMegaways slots with an inferno theme: the number of symbols per reel changes on every spin, and with it the number of ways to win. If you are looking for a different mechanic, go back to all features of inferno slots, where every feature has its own starting point.
The highest ceiling in this group belongs to Judgement Day Megaways by Red Tiger, with well over a hundred thousand ways on full reels, cascades and random multipliers. Olympus Hades Megaways by iSoftBet adds sticky and walking wilds, set among Greek gods and the underworld. Gems Inferno Megaways links the falling symbols to Hold and Win and respins, while Armageddon Megaways by Reel Play combines the Gonzo mechanic with fixed jackpots. To see how a collector picks up cash values on a Megaways grid, open Play With the Devil Megaways. Hell Chef by Kalamba Games is the only title in this group without cascades and works with a shorter grid.
Megaways is not a theme but a reel system: the inferno mood of devils, demons and fire sits here on a grid that changes shape on every spin. 5 of the 6 titles pair that grid with falling symbols, and that combination is what shapes a session.
Every Megaways title on this list counts wins in ways rather than fixed lines; through inferno slots with expanding and multiway you can compare them with other multiway slots and with titles where symbols expand across the whole reel. Falling symbols are part of this list too; how these cascading reels work and which other inferno slots use them is covered on the cascades page.
How Megaways works
The mechanic and the newest examples
Megaways is a reel system in which the number of symbols on each reel is set again on every spin. On one spin a reel is packed with small symbols, on the next the same reel holds only a few. There are no fixed paylines: a combination counts as soon as matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel and regardless of the row. The number of ways to win is the product of the symbols on each reel. The fuller the reels, the larger that product: with every reel filled, the count reaches well over a hundred thousand ways, the ceiling the provider data lists for most titles on this list. Hell Chef uses a shorter grid and therefore has a clearly lower maximum.
The mechanic was developed by Big Time Gaming. Other studios use it under licence, which is why the Megaways name appears in this list on titles from, among others, Red Tiger, Pragmatic Play, iSoftBet, Reel Play, Kalamba Games, Blueprint and MGA Games. The core is the same everywhere: changing reel heights and wins counted in ways. What differs is what a studio builds around it, such as the type of wilds, the structure of the free spins or a separate round with fixed jackpots.
Because the number of ways changes from spin to spin, the value of a spin varies a lot too. A spin with short reels counts few combinations, a spin with full reels can reach well over a hundred thousand. The figure in the provider data is the ceiling of the grid; on most spins the actual number of ways is a good deal lower.

According to the provider data, 6 inferno slots with their own page run on a Megaways grid, plus 3 related slots without their own page.
5 of the 6 titles on this list pair the shifting grid with cascades: winning symbols vanish, new ones drop in and the grid is rebuilt within the same spin. Hell Chef is the exception; there the focus is on collecting energy symbols. Beyond that you will find random multipliers and symbol swaps in Judgement Day Megaways, sticky and walking wilds in Olympus Hades Megaways, and a Hold and Win round with fixed jackpots in Armageddon Megaways. Gems Inferno Megaways combines Hold and Win with respins, while Play With the Devil Megaways has a collector that picks up cash values.

Megaways: max win and volatility
Max win per volatility level
The group sits at the risky end. Most titles are recorded as high volatility (4); the medium-high group (2) consists of Gems Inferno Megaways and Armageddon Megaways. Max win varies widely; in the table you will find the lowest ceiling in Hell Chef and the highest in Judgement Day Megaways. That gap does not come from the grid alone. A large number of ways increases the combinations per spin, but the big outliers only appear when cascades and climbing multipliers keep running for a long time.
So do not compare the ceiling alone. A high max win tells you what a full sequence can pay, not how likely it is. Look at volatility and the RTP column next to the max win; for slots with an RTP range the version you play may differ from the figure in the table. The highest ceilings belong to Judgement Day Megaways and Olympus Hades Megaways, which combine cascades with multipliers.
